Dinner with my english students

My english students from Tuesday class have invited me for a dinner at a japanese ramen (noodle) restaurant.
As you can see we have a lot of fun!
We have Dolly, the girl, also working with me, then in front Orgil, the doctor and brother of my friend Boogii (a girl too) and in the back Munkhjawkhlan (Munko), a doctor, friend of Orgil.
I hope you follow!
Oh I am there too :-)
This is so japanese, you can really find everything in Mongolia!!!
And now Jaiga has joined us too!
Great evening, good english practicing!

Visit at the buddhist temple

This week-end I went to one of the buddhist temple in UB.
What you can do there is to buy some prayers: you say your name, the prayers that you want and then the lamas will make the prayer for you.
I have bought 16 prayers especially dedicated for women!
The lamas are praying for me today!
There is always a lot of colors in these temples
especially the red and the yellow.
These are the prayer's wheel, you have to make them turn.
When you go to a temple you have to make all of them turn, small ones and big ones.
Some god decorations at the temple
This are again some prayer's wheels, with very nice colors and design.
And at the end there is the buddha, where you can pray and express your wishes
This is one of the place where the lamas are praying.
I also bought a god that will protect me. You have to see your year of birth and depending on that you have your god.
For the moment my god is still sleeping, not protecting me.
A lama has to wake him up and then he will be active.
Next time when I go to the monastery I will wake him up!

Stars

With one of my english class we have done some stars!
You just use a long band of colored paper and then do things (I don't remember :-)) to have a star!
After that you do a lot of them, put them in a jar and offer it to your friends!
I think I will stop with the 5 I have :-)

It's like to be in France, but I am still in UB
or maybe not actually, here I am cooking french toast
look at that, not bad right!!!
I really have everything here :-)

the oyatsch village

On Saturday I went visiting the "oyatsch" village near UB.
Oyatsch are the people training the horses for the nadaam races.
In this village everybody is working with horses !
Mongolian horses of course!
Not so big but very resistant and quick!
This is me :-) with the horses, but I didn't want to ride them, I fell terrible to do it with so many expert people there!
This is the saddle that they use, quite old made with wood, but looks nice!
This is the person that we were visiting, he just received a prize for the best oyatsch in his region, which is eastern Mongolia.
I particularly like his deel!!!!
And that was so nice to see all these small kids training.
Because here that's the kids that are ridding horses, no adults  are making the race.
And look at this one, so small, but already on a horse, a real Mongolian!!!!

Museum and Buddha

One of these week-ends I was in the museum of natural history, I think this is the name:-)
Actually I wanted to go to the history one but it was closed (This is this one)
So I went with my friend there and they have a huge collection of stuffed animals, very impressive!
These are snow leopards that you actually can find in Mongolia!
But the highlight is the dinosaur part.
Very nice, they have also a very big one, see picture after!
There was also a room with beautiful butterflies and all kind of insects not beautiful….
And they also have this animal, when I saw it I thought it was a joke.
Does a dear  can really have teethes like that?
No joke?
The animals in Mongolia are more scary than I thought!!!
This is the very big dinosaur.
Impressive impressive I say :-)
After that we went to see a very big Buddha.
Also very nice, I like them here, very often they are big and golden.
You have to turn 3 times around and make a wish, what I always do :-)

I think I am doing really ok here, what do you think?

I love UB there are so many things here!
This is a german restaurant  and this is a tuna sandwich!
and for those who are wondering, yes this is a berliner!
That is japanese, mushrooms and bacon, not bad
and look at the portion of fried rice, not wonder why mongolian are so big :-)
and that one, what do you think?
Deliciousssss, this is my breakfast!
So if you are wondering how we live here, this is giving you an apercu :-)
We may be at the end of the world, but we are doing really good!

Happy women's day

In Mongolia the 8th of March is women's day. So we are not working and there are a lot of events!
At school the teachers have organized a lot of food!
and we even had pizzas, really good!
Some students offer us some roses, mine died a little bit, but that was still nice :-)
And then on the day I was invited to a concert of someone I wanted to see since one year!!!
I made myself pretty and the day before it was really hot but damned on that day it was freezing again, welcome to Mongolia!
Anyway that was the concert, no no this is not a nazi concert, this is the sign of strength in  buddhism.
And in the middle this is old mongolian writing!
This is me with some people dressed in Buriat, I think we say it like that.
In this concert I was the only foreigner, so cool!
Yeah in Mongolia you can still take pics during the concert!
These are the 2 presenters,  look at the deel :-)
We had some Morin Khuur play, oh I love it, but I was not there for that!!!!
I was there for him!!!!
Javhlan!!!!
Finally, finally I managed to go to one of his concert. He is my favorite mongolian singer and I know that in Mongolia only old ladies like him, but now this is old ladies and me!
In the concert he has invited 4 others guys from different tribes: Tuva (russian),  khalumas, inner Mongolia (China) and  busad. You can see them in the last picture. I am really not sure how to write it.
They have different languages sometimes, sing differently, have different instruments but are mongols or were mongols!
The clothes are also different!
This one is particularly cool, he is the inner mongolian :-)
They all sang and dance.
The concerts was 3 hours, really really nice!
This is the concert ticket.
Finally finally I managed it! Ouh things need time in Mongolia but you always manage!
And I also have received some delicious chocolate!
Ahh that was nice :-)
