Heritage day 1

This week-end is heritage days. So early this morning I went to see some of it. This year: Industrie.
First visite called: glaciere. Today an administrative building
But under it a huge storage where they used to store ice, before fridges exist
And also hang meet because of course it was cold
This room was full of ice!
Then direction a former coffee factory, now some offices and apartments. Could just see the outside...
This is a former wine factory
With some art nouveau style
This was the factory with the offices of the bosses watching the employees
Yeah free wine distribution, or not....
I love this style, a bit like Eiffel
Small break to have a salmon bagel and some limonade, outside between 2 showers :-)
Back to the wine building, still nothing to drink...
And then direction a former Waucquer textile factory
with it's art nouveau counter
and impressive lift
This is where they used to cut the textiles
and the catalog of what they offered
Today this is national archives of Brussels
Not so convenient for paper...
Beautiful stairs
 And old pair of scissors
All that I have seen was always with free tour
Statue outside
And tomorrow day 2!

European commision

At and near the european commission
Actually there  are buildings everywhere
I especially like this one, pretty amazing
You have different styles and status everywhere
I think in this building they take care of children
This one is called caprice des dieux because of its shape
And nearby a parc to relax, well was not this week-end because it is raining like crazy....
This one is also pretty big...
With all the european flags
And of course the euro
Next step visit the parliament when there is a session :-)

But no, this is really in Brussels
Look waffles
although it looks so similar :-)
Inside there is q big museum that I have to visit, but there are so many museums here, I need more time!

Day trip in Aix-La-Chapelle

Aix la Chapelle, Germany is not too far from Brussels by train
There you can visit the cathedral with some tombs
Very very old doors
And an amazing celling, even if my picture is not that good
So high with brights colors
This city was the favorite of Charlemagne, and where many german kings were crowned
Looks like a donjon
Absinthe
This ine is an old restaurant, I really the all wooden style
One of the main square, so sunny that day
and the huge city hall
The city has kept all the old buildings which make s it very interesting to visit
Like the fountain with people playing around
