Costume museum
A few weeks ago I have been with some students to the costume museum.
This is a very small museum but you can see some mongolian traditional outfit.
On this one the woman has an haircut that represents an eagle.
This is because the chinese has ordered to change the stand carrying the fire and this was not ok for the mongolian believe. The solution was that the woman, who are taking care of fire, have an eagle which is then the counterpart of the new and not ok fire stand!
At the beginning they use their real hair, what a job!
These outfits are representing the different tribes, region of mongolia
Mainly it was done with silk imported from China
Mongolian like bright colors, so this is always "fire" outfit
and the woman have a lot of pearls and everything!
Really nice, but not so convenient...

eat eat!!!
There is one thing in Mongolia, the portion are big and if not you can be sure that the place will close quick!
I love that restaurant very good food!
But sometimes I miss my homeland so I buy that!
Not the best but still :-)
And this is a smoked fish from Khenti, so soft
cooked with noodle and milk just delicious!
But lately I am eating too much, well it's now -30 at night I need energy, but still I need to watch out!

Street art UB
As you may notice in this one there is a sumo, who I don't know :-)
And happily everybody is going!
Bon voyage!!
I personally really like this one!
And here some animals...
To be noticed the smiling bat, makes her more sympathetic right?

Morin Khuur
After months (literally) of searching for a Morin Khuur( horse guitar) teacher we finally found one!
So this morning I had my first lecture.
As you may see I am extremely concentrated!
This is not that easy!
First I learned the 3 positions of the archery
This is my teacher correcting me :-)
And me alone, not always a nice sound :-)
I have a tendency to check and not go straight!!!
Then I learned 4 notes: Fa, sol, la, si bemol
I do that with my finger on the upper part!
After 1 hour I am very tired, my fingers are hurting, my legs too (too hold the morin Khuur) and my back!)
But I am very happy, next lecture on Friday!!!

at school
This is the outside of my university.
My apartment is on the left side of it
And this is a closer view!
And in the teacher's room we have now a new decoration.
This is the:Peace: Four Harmonious Brothers.
I just let you read the story!
Once upon a time an elephant came upon a giant tree in the forest by the river bank. He rested under its shade for a rest. Soon a monkey came to rest there also. The elephant said, "This is my tree. I found it first." The monkey replied, "Do you see any fruit on this tree?" "No" said the elephant. The monkey said triumphantly, "Ah! I was here before you. I ate up the fruits on this tree before you got here." The elephant then bowed to the monkey, "OK, you're my big brother, since you came here first." "Wait a minute" said the rabbit that hopped by, "When I saw this tree, it was just a sapling with only a few branches and certainly not any fruit. So I was here before both of you." Then the elephant and monkey bowed to the rabbit: "OK, you're our big brother, since you were here first." Just then, they heard "Ha! Ha! Ha!" from a partridge on the treetop: "This tree wouldn't have sprouted if I didn't spit out the seed from a fruit I had eaten. So I was here before all of you." Then the elephant, monkey, and rabbit, all bowed to the partridge, "OK, you're truly our big brother, since you planted this very tree." Then they decided to share the tree together in peaceful harmony— enjoying the beauty of the tree's fragrance, the nourishment of the tree's fruits, and the bounty of the tree's shade. Other animals in the forest often see them together with the partridge on top of the rabbit who is held up by the monkey who rides on top of the elephant. Henceforth, they were called "the four harmonious brothers", and by their example, peace reigned throughout the jungle.

a few weeks ago
a few weeks ago I was at the Zaisan memorial
This is a small hill where you have a great view of the city!
This eagle is not free he belongs to a guy that takes pictures with it.
and from there you can see the city in all directions or almost!
And what you see is that there are a lot of constructions going on!!!
This is the view of the Buddha now surrounded by buildings :-(
There is a memorial at the top of the hill
This is the river view with autumn's colors now gone...
And in the memorial you have a lot of paintings explaining the history of Mongolia
You can see the communist period too
and other things that I cannot explain :-(
and if you are lucky a very nice sunset!
and a last view of the city, with so many buildings now and everyday there are new ones coming out of the ground, incredible!!!
But this also mean a lot of dust and noise from the construction for the moment...
