A week-end in Khenti

This week-end I went to the Khenti province, 331 kilometers away from UB.
On the way a small stop at a restaurant, because you need some calories to hit the road!
This is the first time I see a pig in Mongolia and this one has a record!
I was in Khenti because of the celebration of the 90's anniversary of the school, so the city was full of people!
this is the school!
Many former students were there, some dressed with great deels!
You had people that were in this school 30 years ago!
This is so great to see the old pictures
And this is some former classmates back in their old classes
This city is located in the Khenti province (the birthplace of Chingis Khan).
You can see it on the map :-)
Khenti is famous for it's horses and there is a monument dedicated to them.
There is also a great monastery, more about it later...
Khenti is also the beginning of the steppes meaning, there is nothing, no mountains, all flat!
But in this city you can still see some mountains!
and a beautiful river where the kids can swim but it was too cold now, well almost too cold, see later!
Great panoramic view!
a decoration at the monastery
and the road with beautiful colors at sunset
And this is the Herlen river which has allowed me to take great pictures!
I just let you admire them without comments (they are not needed anyway!)

And this is really a river even if it looks like a see!
And of course in Mongolia all the meals were full of meat and this time airag (fermented horse's milk)!
Everything just delicious, too delicious because only after 2 days I have some extra kilos!
If you are careful enough you can see a lot of wild animals in Mongolia and if you are lucky enough you even take pictures of them!!!!
Here an eagle.
And this is me with a borrowed Louis Vuitton bag.
First time I touched one actually!
I have to go to Mongolia to make it happen!!!!!

At the monastery I had a Lama doing some prayers for me.
I was just sitting in front of him, this was very intense.
Really great and I hope my prayers will come through!

Khenti is full of famous people. Some of them are wrestlers and they have their monument.
But this one has quite a big b...!!!!
wrestling fight
and the winner.
These statues are really big and so nice!

On the way back to UB some view of the mountains (This is not the steppe anymore)
An ovo
And there I was supposed to get thermal water very good for the stomach but unfortunately it was closed….
with a big lock!!!!
But I saw some nice monuments. This one commemorate the book the secret story of the mongolian empire
and this one is for a scientist
and this my friends is something.
This is a thermal lake full of minerals and even if the water temperature was really low I took a swim, because I couldn't resist!
After that my skin was all smooth and beautiful!
This was worth it!
And Khenti is famous for it's bread that I bought.
And this was my today's lunch!
How yummy :-)
Ah this week-end was great, too short but some fresh air compare to the UB pollution!
I want to go again!!!!
